Hi my name is Stewy (57) born in the UK and a Canadian citizen who crazy or not on May 30th 2019 is going to undertake a 10,000+ mile camping and moteling solo motorcycle ride across the both the USA and Canada coast to coast. I will try and help raise awareness and donations for Kidney Cancer throughout my trip. I will be supporting this charity as a way of giving back to the USA and its citizens for allowing me to visit their beautiful country.  I will be posting the day by day curve balls I have to face riding a 19 year old Triumph Thunderbird 900cc motorcycle a well as the wonderful places I go and people I meet on a web page ride4kidneycancer.weebly.com (live on 30th May)

So why am I doing this I hear you ask. Well until July 13th 2013 at 15.00 I had never heard of kidney cancer but by 15.03 I had as I was subsequently diagnosed with stage 4 RCC in my left kidney and which had spread to both lungs and my right adrenal gland and given a 2 year end of life prognosis. Dont think so! I had a 8 year old daughter and a 10 year old son, too soon to leave them. 

So ot to harp on I had my left kidney removed and still have stage 4 but I have been on 50mg Sutent/Sunitab firstly on a 4 week on 2 week off then a 2 week on 1 week off ever since which has fluctuated but kept it localised. I have had every side effect you can mension and some you just cant put into words but I have always loved the beautiful adventure we called life so I empowered myself to get to the best specialist's (There are some amazing help out there) and to look for my unique treatment requirement and not be just part of a process. At least that one thing off my chest hahajaja. 

I will be taking a 7 week break off (the longest I ever have) to go on this trip. Yes it will grow but glass half full well no all full it will reduce when I go back on the Sutent.

Remember as I tell my kids every day ' Every day is a good day just different' One last thing Stewy said is: ‘Treat me as a human and not a disease, be ready for people to just disappear from your life JUST due to you having Cancer.’
